Civil engineering students renovate pathways in Sensory Garden

We were thrilled to have two teams of civil engineering students from UC Davis come together this spring to help with some path renovation projects.  Many members from the UC Davis student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) helped replace edging in the Sensory Garden on April 24th and 25th.  They put their engineering skills to work leveling, grading, lining up cuts, and making beautiful mitered corners in the 2x4 Trex recycled lumber edging.  Many thanks to Cyrus Khorshidchehr for coordinating the volunteers for this project.

On May 1st, students from the civil engineering honor society Chi Epsilon came back to the garden to finish the renovation of the paths between the Sensory Garden and the Meadow.  This project required major realignment on one of our paths in addition to the replacement of unattractive old edging.  The students did a great job finishing out this path renovation project.  Thanks to Michelle Fong for organizing this work day.

The next time you take a stroll through the garden, take a look at the edging in these areas and think good thoughts about a civil engineering student!
