Suggestions for Increasing Participation and Giving It Meaning

The more you can involve students in the UNICEF drive, the more successful it will be!

  • Have pairs of articulate upper grade students (“UNICEF Ambassadors”) visit classrooms a few days before Halloween to explain and role-play “Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.”  This activity tends to be the single most effective for engaging students.

  • Help students make posters to display in classrooms, hallways and in the main office.

  • Invite students to put an article in your school newsletter.

  • Order free UNICEF teacher resource packets for each teacher at your school. Packets include a DVD, poster, reproducible handouts and additional resources.  This is very easy to do.  Materials can also be downloaded from The US Fund for UNICEF website.
