Davis Senior High School Orchestras
CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
The Chamber Orchestra is designed to provide string players the
experience of learning a broad range of chamber music composed
specifically for strings only. The Chamber Orchestra is open to
all string students. No audition is required for enrollment. However
participation in junior high orchestra or equivalent experience is a
prerequisite.
SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The Symphony Orchestra is designed to provide string, wind, brass and percussion students with a thorough background of various styles of music. Acceptance in the Symphony Orchestra is by audition only and consent of the conductor. Auditions are held each spring for the following school year. For further information about auditions please contact music instructor Angelo Moreno.
DHS Baroque Ensemble
The DHS Baroque Ensemble (DHSBE) is an auditioned orchestral ensemble which will focus on Early Music, Baroque and early Classical Orchestral Music. Auditions announcements are in January and live auditions will take place in early spring. This performance ensemble is open to the following instrumentation: violin, viola, cello, bass, Key Board- Harpsichord. The orchestra will perform on Baroque instruments, which includes string instruments converted to Baroque style with gut strings and Baroque style bows. The DHSBE is for those students interested in the study and performance practices of early music including Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods. The DHSBE will meet daily for rehearsals and direct instruction and will maintain an active performance schedule throughout the school year.
