LuAnn Higgs
On November 13 the Symphonic Band presented “I Got Gershwin,” a sparkling evening all based on the music of American composer George Gershwin. The featured artist was multi-talented guest artist Ms. LuAnn Higgs. Long known in our area for her vocal roles in various light operatic productions, Ms. Higgs was featured in some of Gershwin’s most famous songs including “But Not For Me,” “Summertime,” and “How Long Has This Been Goin’ On?” But that’s not all - she will also perform two of Gershwin’s Piano Preludes. Interesting to note is that Higgs is a former DHS band and choir student. She has studied voice in the Sacramento area as well as Vienna, Austria. Today she is one of the most sought-after vocal teachers in the area, teaching many DHS vocal students. (taken from Fred Lange's November Newsletter update)
