Davis Diversity Events

Welcome to the Davis Diversity Events website.

This site was created in coordination with the newly appointed City of Davis Human Relations Commission, to provide information about local events that promote understanding and cohesiveness for our vibrant and diverse Davis community.

The first 2007 event we are highlighting is the city-wide Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.  Please browse the site for more information about that event, and return often for information we will be posting about future events.

A Day of Service & Celebration - January 15, 2007

The National Day of Service Project

On January 15, 2007, as we celebrate the 21st anniversary of the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday, hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country will remember and memorialize Dr. King by participating in service projects in their communities. Together, they will honor King’s legacy of tolerance, peace, and equality by meeting community needs and making the holiday... “A day ON, not a day OFF”.  In 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, designating the King Holiday as a national day of volunteer service and community celebration.
For more information about this national program link here.

Local Davis “MLK Jr. Art Show” – a call for entries!
The City of Davis Human Relations Commission and the Davis Diversity Events Project would like to invite all elementary, junior and high school students to participate in the first annual Davis Martin Luther King Jr. Art Show.  Art work should reflect the vision of Martin Luther King Jr.
