The Davis Volleyball Club’s 12 and under team participated in their first tournament on Sunday, March 2.  In opening pool play the team compiled a 1-2 record.  In the first match Davis  lost to Woodland’s Dynamics (10-25, 11-25) despite strong serving by Kimmy Siu and good passing by Haley Blackwell, Amanda Glazer and Emma Peterson.  In the second match Davis lost to Momentum (16-25, 13-25) despite a strong serving game by Makena Sherwood and Mary Ellen Price.  Noelle Averett and Corina Kaufman worked hard to keep the games close with quick reactions and good passing.  The third match was a winner with Davis taking Salinas in 3 (21-25, 25-23, 15-13).  Serves from Lola Davis, Michelle Higuera, and Kaitlynn Plaskett helped secure the victory.

The Davis 12’s team entered post-pool play against Northern Valley and despite strong efforts by Abby DeVarennes and Brittney Eggers lost (12-25, 15-25).  In the final match of the day Davis lost to Vacaville’s Extreme  (19-25, 13-25)  and finished in 7^th place overall.  Head Coach Leigh Whitmire and Assistant Coach Nancy Peterson were extremely pleased with the effort put forth by their players and are both looking forward to a rewarding season.
