Started at the 25th seed in the bronze division. We now are headed into the Aqua division, as the 3rd seed but I don't see these girls playing in that division for long. The bronze division is where we belong, and is where we will be. At this tournament, the girls played through some tough matches against some good teams. MVP at this tournament had to be Brittany Younger. She had some great connections coming from awesome sets by Leah. She facialed one girl who got lucky and somehow the ball came back on our side, but nonetheless her hitting percentage was up in the 90's. Jenny had some awesome blocks and Leah had a huge block against the opponent’s best hitter, which was incredible. The greatest part about this tournament was to see the connections between middles and setters, which is essential to running an effective offense. Improvement is key, and little by little, everything is coming together as it should be.

Began #87 in Evergreen Division and finished 3rd in their division. Rough and rocky day with a lot of emotion and tension between players. We were the last team to leave the gym at 7:45pm - but taking 3rd place was worth it. Roxanne Lucero set for two matches at the beginning of the day before stepping back into her libero position and finishing the day with many great passes. Briana Mason was brave when she told her teammates that she would set anyways, even though it wasn't her first choice - she would do it for the team. She finished the day with a great attitude. April Esser made several great plays, picking up tips and earning 4 kills in the final game against Crush. Molly O'Hagan did a great job in both the middle and outside positions for us. She began to feel the pain of her lower back injury late in the day, but played on - being very effective offensively. Chloe McGuire and Morgan Crosta, our captains, showed great maturity when they dealt with the drama off the court. They pushed their teammates to play together when emotion was telling them to play as individuals.

Warmed up quickly on Sunday and played well against Solano. The team played well together and had many long rallies. Hilary Parsons had 4 kills, Jolie Law had 5 set assists, and the team had 8 combined digs. The girls came out swinging in the next game against Golden Bear. They played great volleyball! Laura Turold had 5 digs and Jolie Law had 8 kills. Caroline Peters and Caitlyn Smith played awesome defense in the back row. Everyone put their game faces on and did well. This attitude continued on throughout the rest of the day. We beat every team we played and almost every match. The team as a whole had 57 kills, 3 blocks, 24 set assists, 45 serving aces, and 42 digs. Some outstanding hitters this weekend were, Hilary with 14 kills, Jolie with 17 kills, Katie with 11 kills, and Caroline with 9. There were also some outstanding servers, Hilary with 18 serving aces, 10 serving aces for Caitlyn, and 4 for Freddie. We had some amazing defenders step it up this weekend. Laura had 12 digs, Caroline had 7 digs and Erica Peters had 3. Like we said last weekend, the girls continue to learned how to play and work together as a team. This weekend really showed the girls that we are a great team if we really work hard and put our minds to it. Great job everyone.
