President's Day Results

16-Gold

Started seed #81 and finished #83.  Record for the weekend: 4-2.  Some highlights were Molly O'Hagan outstanding day on Sunday - she was extremely effective blocking and attacking at the net and made numerous 'unbelievable' saves while playing defense.  She earned us many aces over the weekend with her tough serve, and maintained incredible intensity while playing both middle and outside at times at this tournament.  Chloe McGuire did an excellent job as captain - calming the nerves of her teammates with her dependable demeanor.  She plays very smart, showing this tournament that she can consistently put the ball away, or keep it in play, depending on the situation.  She played right side for us this tournament - putting up a sizeable block against outside hitters.  Roxanne Lucero inspired her teammates with her motto, "Whatever benefits the team."  She stepped in to set, serve, or pass and kept her attitude positive and encouraging at all times.

14-Gold

Took awhile to warm up but played well against Quake City.  The team played well together and had many long rallies.  Jolie Law had 5 kills, Hilary Parsons had 6 set assists, and the team had 3 combined blocks.  On Sunday, the girls came out swinging.  They played the best volleyball we have seen yet.  Caroline Peters and Caitlyn Smith had 8 serving aces each and Freddie Schmitendorf had 5 kills. Laura Turold and Erica Peters played awesome defense in the back row.  Caroline and Erica Peters brought a lot of energy and intensity to Sunday’s play. On Monday, the team had a combined total of 49 kills, 18 digs, and 26 serving aces in all three matches.  Katie Bunch had 10 kills, Rhiannon Snoen had 7 kills, and Teaghan Phillips had 4 kills.  Although we lost two games on Monday, the girls have really learned how to play and work together as a team.  We are looking forward to Power League Tournaments in the upcoming months.
