Harper Jazz Band audition music

For those current 7th and 8th graders who are interested in auditioning for next year's jazz band, here's the scoop: Audition Dates: April 16th and 17th, at lunch and after school (sign-up sheets will be posted in the music room) Requirements: 1. All students (except drummers) will memorize and perform 2 Blues Scales (see attached files) and a chromatic scale to show the extent of your range (up and down) 2. Prospective jazz members will be asked to perform an excerpt from the attached music. Please find the file for your particular instrument and print it for your use. If you play a flute or clarinet, you may use the trumpet or alto part for the audition. Practice the whole song -- you never know which sections I'll ask you to play! 3. Drummers will be asked to demonstrate a swing beat and a shuffle beat. You should also be prepared to demonstrate two different 2-bar fills. 4. All those who audition will be asked to sight-read a segment of jazz music. Results will be posted in the music room by Thursday, April 19th.
