4 African countries join novel UN program to combat malnutrition
Guinea, Mali, Niger and the Republic of Congo are the first four African countries to join Unitlife, a UNICEF-managed program. The countries will use taxes raised from the sale of natural resources to fund programs to combat child malnutrition
UNICEF: Millions of children at risk from El Nino
This season's El Nino threatens the health and well-being of 11 million children in southern and eastern Africa, says UNICEF. It's expected that the weather phenomenon will reduce water supplies and crops, as well as increase disease.
