Relay for Life & Service Opportunities (Please Read!)

Hi everyone!

I hope you guys are having a great week! I have some very important updates about Relay for Life (for both relay team members AND general ARCC members)

General ARCC Members: Please check out the information under onsite activities and fundraisers (specifically info regarding First-Aid Booth and Bake Sale) <-- these are opportunites for general ARCC members to complete their service hours.

Relay Team Members: Sorry guys but please read the entire e-mail! :)

                 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Signing Up Online:

You must sign up online if you want your name to be on the official roster of relay participants. At the gate, they'll check to make sure you're on the roster and give you a wrist band. Please make sure you sign up online! I will send those directions again (about how to join our team on the relay for life website).

Onsite Activities/ Fundraisers:

First Aid Booth: We will be staffing the first-aid booth at the event. It'll be very basic stuff like handing out bandages and making sure everyone stays hydrated, etc...If you are certified in First Aid/CPR and would like to volunteer at the booth, please let me know! (This is not limited to just team members)

Scavenger Hunt:
We're planning to host one or two rounds of scavenger hunt on the day of the event (April 4). People will pay $1 to enter and we'll have prizes for winners. During the morning of the event, our entire team will collaborate on coming up with fun questions! Off the top of my head, some of the questions can be related to cancer awareness. We can also have fun questions like "take a picture with Mrs. Relay!!!", "throw somebody in relay jail and take their picture", or "bring back a cookie from another fundraiser", etc...

Bake Sale:
We will be selling baked items on the day of the event. 12 items = 1 service hour credit. You can bake anything: brownies, rice crispees, cookies, etc... every item must be individually wrapped with saran wrap. I can do pick-ups on the morning of the event (April 4th) if you cannot bring baked items to Toomey Field. If you're interested, please e-mail me back! (This is not limited ot just team members)

Overnight Stay:
Staying overnight is not mandatory but we found a big tent this year! We should be able to accomodate a lot of people so I encourage you to stay overnight and finish a ton of service hours (by walking the track and showing your support for cancer survivors who will be present at the event). :)

Offsite Fundraisers:

We currently do not have one planned! We're pouring all our energy into on-site fundraisers so that we can make the day as fun and exciting as possible.

We're going to try to plan an off-site fundraiser with a business in Davis some time during the first week of April (one week before relay) but it's not definite.

Team Theme

One of the ideas that was brought up at the meeting was a Hawaiin theme! That will be our theme unless you guys send us more suggestions! We will also be selling leis along with the baked goods.

Fundraising Envelope Pick-Ups

Check out the team roster I attached to this e-mail: if you haven't picked up your white fundraising envelopes, here are the only times/locations for you to do so.

Wednesday, March 11th (8:00am - 11:00am, 12:10pm - 4:00pm) @ cafe on the 1st floor of Science Lab Blding I will be wearing the red cross sweatshirt.

Please let me know if you're not available during those times; we can definitely arrange something else.

Schedule

Please check out the "Schedule" file I attached to this e-mail (Go to miscellaneous files for downloading folder to download file). I want a general idea of what time and how long you guys are planning to stay at the event. Please type your name into the desired time slots, save the changes, reattach the file, and send it back to me. This is very important!

Thanks everyone and good luck with midterms/finals!
