Yolo Hospice is offering a workshop to our Rancho Yolo community based on the PBS Frontline film Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End. Based on the best-selling book by Atul Gawande, MD, this documentary explores the hopes of patients and families facing terminal illness and their relationships with the physicians who treat them. One segment shows Dr. Gawande having discussions with his own dad. It is a film that is both poignant and heart-warming.
You will be able to watch the film and then participate in a conversation with your tablemates. Trained facilitators at each table will lead the discussion, allowing each person to share or not share as he/she wishes. You will also receive a checklist to give you guidance on potential talking points on what matters most to you and families if facing difficult treatment decisions, and how to have these conversations ahead of a medical crisis.

Refreshments will be available before the meeting and after the film. To RSVP, call the Yolo
Hospice general number at 530-601-5778. The deadline for reservations is August 24th.
