Hike (2A) Loon Lake in Crystal Basin

Loon Lake is quite beautiful in midweek, when OHVers and campers have gone.  We will hike around the lake to the Pleasant Boat-In Campground for lunch and swimming, then return.  The hike is approximately 8 miles with relatively little elevation gain or loss but many mild contour adjustments.  Meet at 9am at the McDonalds on Broadway in Placerville (Broadway exit off Hwy 50 past signals).  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader: Jim Cramer, (530) 756-3973 or cramerjc@gmail.com

 

Wednesday, September 9

Hike (1A) Little Bald Mt.  Loop

Our approx 4.5 mile hike starts at Robinson Flat campgrounds.  We’ll hike up to the ridge via a series of switchbacks (approx 600 ft elevation gain) and have lunch at the top while enjoying the awesome 360-degree views of the Sierra Nevada.  Trail down provides a nice hike through the woods.  Have lunch, plenty of water and rain gear in case of afternoon showers or winds.  Rain cancels.  No dogs.  Meet in Auburn at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:00 am.  Leader: Sheila Toner, 530-886-0673.

Hike (2B) Emigrant Lake, Carson Pass (Yolano Group)

From below Carson Pass we will walk to the far end of Caples Lake and then ascend a gentle canyon to beautiful Emigrant Lake.  Be prepared for wildflowers and refreshing swimming.  The hike is approximately 8 miles with 1000’ cumulative elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Hike (1A) Castle Pass Ridge

 We’ll hike up to castle pass ridge via the PCT and lunch with 360-degree views of the Sierras.  Hike is about 4.5 miles, with a few small stream crossings.   Beautiful scenery along the way.  Have lunch, water, essentials and jacket for breeze or late showers.   Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Rain cancels. Hike (1B) Rowton Peak

From the Ice Lakes/Royal Gorge area, we’ll hike up to Razorback Ridge and Rowton Peak, elevation 7480’. Along the ridge, we’ll have expansive views of the North Fork of the American River and the Granite Chief Wilderness. About 5 miles with a total 1,025 ft elevation gain. Bring lunch, water and essentials. No dogs. Heavy rain cancels.
