Tuesday, February 3

Day Hike (2B) Pierce Canyon Falls Capay Valley

We’ll wind up through Pierce Canyon on gravel Rd. 53.  The canyon has breathtaking steep cliffs and views of Capay Valley, a nice creek, and beautiful oaks.  Along the way we'll get to a cross-canyon view of the falls.  At road’s end we eat lunch and then return down Rd. 53.  Round trip is about 8 miles with about 1400 foot elevation gain.

Bring lunch, water, and essentials.

Meet at Guinda post office on Hwy 16 at 9:15am.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.

Day Hike (2A) Jenkinson Lake

The hike along Jenkinson Lake near Pollock Pines is a pleasant hike along the shoreline; total distance is about 6.5 miles.

Bring lunch, water, and essentials.

Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the McDonalds on Broadway in Placerville (Broadway exit off Hwy 50 past signals). No dogs. Heavy rain cancels.

February 18, Wednesday

Hike 2A Hidden Falls

We’ll hike an 8 mile loop around Coon Creek which runs through the length of the park. We'll use south legacy way, gold finch, creek side, hidden falls access, and poppy way trails as our route.   Distance is 8 miles with approx 600 ft elevation loss/gain.  The trail alternates between wide and narrow with a series of ups and downs.  The creek is running with many small rapids and falls so we will stop often to enjoy the views and the sound of flowing water.  We'll admire the creek from all 3 bridges in the park.     Bring lunch, water, snack and essentials. Meet at 9:30 am at Burger King on Lincoln Wayin Auburn at Foresthill Exit off I-80.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader:  Sheila Toner 530-886-0673.

 

Tuesday, February 24

Day Hike (2B) Skyline Wilderness Park, Napa

Explore the valleys and ridges of Skyline Wilderness Park behind Napa State Hospital. We’ll follow the ridge to Lake Marie, circle the lake, and return on lush Buckeye Trail.  The hike is about 6.5 miles with 1100’ cumulative elevation gain. 

Bring lunch, water, and essentials.

Meet at 8:30am at the Davis Park and Ride behind Ikedas Fruit Stand off I-80 at Mace Blvd in Davis.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.

Wednesday, February 25

Day Hike (1A) PG&E Trail

This approx 4 mile one way hike, down the canyon, offers many unique views of both past and current quarrying operations along the Middle Fork American River.  There are also several nice views up the Middle Fork American River.

Bring lunch, water and essentials.

Meet at the Quarry Parking Lot, (State parking fee or pass required.) on the left off Hwy 49 just past the Hwy 49 bridge below Auburn at 9:30 am.  We will shuttle from there to the upper trailhead staring point.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.
