Hike (2B). Feather Falls

 

Enjoy picturesque Feather Falls and luscious wildflowers en route.  This is a long drive but well worth the time.  We’ll do a 9 mile loop with about 1100’ elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, hat, and essentials.  Meet at the Marysville McDonalds, corner of Hwy 70 and 4th Street, at 9:00 a.m. No dogs. Rain cancels. Hike (1A). Quarry Trail to Murderer’s Bar  (ASRA Canyon Keeper’s Hike)

 

Join us for a pleasant hike along the Middle Fork of the American River below Auburn.  The hike is about 5 miles with a short climb up into the abandoned quarry on the way back.  We’ll talk about the history of the Mt. Quarries RR and mine along the way. Bring lunch, water, essentials, and $ for state parking fee.  Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:30 am or Quarry parking lot at 9:45 am.   No dogs.   Rain cancels.  Leader: Sheila Toner, 530-886-0673. 

 

Saturday, March 18

Hike (1A). Redbud Trail, Cache Creek Region (Yolano Group)

 

The Redbud trail near Clear Lake passes by an historic Native American site, winds up and over a low ridge, and drops down to lovely Cache Creek.  With luck some redbud may still be in bloom.  If water level permits, we may cross Cache Creek and continue down the canyon.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Contact Leader for meeting information. Hike (2B). Peninsula Trails at Folsom Lake

 

This 6.5-mile hike takes trails, which loop around the peninsula at the northeast end of Folsom Lake. We should see early wildflowers and have great views of the lake. Parts of the trails are often muddy this time of year, so have extra shoes to change into after the hike. Bring lunch, water and essentials. State Park parking fee or pass may be required. No dogs.
