Wednesday, November 1
Hike (1B). Castle Pass and Andesite Peak

We’ll hike on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) to Castle Pass, and then turn away from Castle Peak, up the ridge to Andesite Peak.  The peak itself is an optional but short climb up slate-like rocks, with great views from the top. Then we’ll return back to our cars along the Hole-In-the-Wall trail and the dirt Castle Pass road. About 5.5 miles with about 1000 ft. elevation gain. Bring lunch, water and essentials. No dogs. Rain cancels. Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 in Auburn at 9:00 a.m.

Tuesday, November 7
Hike (2B). Black Diamond Mine Regional Park

From south of Antioch we will pass by Rose Hill Cemetery and the abandoned site of the 19th century coal mine at Nortonville Township en route to Jim’s Place and the Black Diamond Ridge Trail.  We then will explore the Chaparral Loop and return to the cars at abandoned Somersville Township, passing old mine shafts en route.  This hike is about 7 miles with 1600 ft cumulative elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Davis Park and Ride behind Ikedas Fruit Stand off I-80 at Mace Blvd. in Davis.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.

Saturday, November 18
Hike (2B). Briones Ridge (Yolano Group)

Come explore the canyons and ridges on the south side of Briones Regional Park between Orinda and Martinez.  We’ll have spectacular views of Mt. Diablo and East Bay reservoirs.  The hike is a 7+ mile loop with about 1100 ft elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Davis Park and Ride behind Ikedas Fruit Stand off I-80 at Mace Blvd. in Davis. No dogs.  Rain cancels.

Wednesday, November 22
Hike (1A). Tinker’s Cut Off, Manzanita and Stagecoach Loop (Canyon Keepers Hike)

We’ll make a 4-5 mile loop using the narrow, steep but short Tinker’s Cut Off to Stagecoach and then Manzanita as our uphill route.  This is a moderate but steady uphill with some narrow, rutted sections.  We will enjoy the views of the American River on the wide, moderate grade of the historic Stagecoach Trail, dating from the 1850s, on the way down.  Bring snack, water, and essentials.  No dogs.  Rain cancels. Meet at 9:30 a.m. in Auburn at bulletin board & toilets at Confluence Area, just before OLD (low) Foresthill Bridge.

Wednesday, November 29
Hike (1A). Greenwood Creek/Magnolia Ranch

Pretty, approx. 4-mile fairly level loop hike along the South Fork American River.  We’ll spend some time alongside and overlooking the South Fork.  Plan on a long lunch break by the river.  This short hike has it all, views, sandy beach, rocky beach, forested trails, open meadow, sun, & shade.  Bring lunch, water and essentials.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Meet at 9:30 a.m. at Burger King on Lincoln Way in Auburn at Foresthill Exit off I-80 in Auburn.
