Mission Statement

The mission of Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County is to provide crisis prevention and intervention, education and community outreach services to the residents of Yolo County.

History

Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County (SPYC) was founded in 1966.  Professionals in the community recognized a need for crisis response services.  A small group of citizens organized a telephone crisis line funded by churches, service groups, and individual donors.  Incorporation as a non-profit organization occurred in 1980 as a result of a growing need for services.

In February 2023, SPYC discontinued operations of its local crisis line.  All local crisis line numbers are automatically forwarded to the National Lifeline/988 for routing to a certified crisis line center.  No calls will go unanswered!
