**List of Scholarships

Scholarships are presented annually at the Fall Tea to junior, senior, and re-entry students demonstrating high scholastic achievement, leadership, community service, high goals, and volunteerism. Each year, the recipients' names are engraved on plaques and permanently displayed on campus, at the Memorial Union.

UFC Scholarship Endowment

In 1993, the UFC Board established a fund to support the UFC scholarship program for any money remaining from dues, programs, and gifts at the end of each year. Concern about the uncertainty and variability of this money prompted the Board to pursue an endowment to strengthen the scholarship fund. Two Silent Auctions raised the original seed money of $10,000 needed to establish the University Farm Circle Scholarship Endowment in 1995. Nine Holiday Home tours, numerous smaller fundraisers, successful programs, generous donations, and capital gains have grown the endowment to a book value of over $509,556 and a market value of over $749,756 as of March 2019.

Marion Freeborn Continuing Student Scholarship

Undergraduate scholarships have been given in almost every year since 1937. In 1959, these awards to outstanding students were named Marion Freeborn scholarships in honor of the wife of the first Chancellor who was a past president of UFC. Beginning in 1980 – 81, re-entry undergraduates also became eligible. These scholarships are now funded by the UFC Scholarship Endowment.

Kate Fizell Founder’s Scholarship

Established in 2008 and named after the founder of UFC, this scholarship is awarded from the UFC Scholarship Endowment with the same guidelines as the Marion Freeborn Scholarships.

Blanche L. Price Scholarship

This endowment was established in 1997 by past president Elizabeth Sagehorn. As executor of her Aunt Blanche’s estate, Elizabeth was allowed to make charitable contributions in her Aunt’s name. This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate who has overcome a disadvantage (including financial).

Carol Lee Coss Memorial Scholarship

This endowment was established in 2008 by the Coss family and friends of Carol Lee, a past president of UFC. It is awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate student who has displayed creativity and community involvement or participation in extracurricular activities. Preference is given to arts majors—e.g., Design, Landscape Architecture, Art Studio, and Dramatic Art.
