Local Rescues

Find local rescues in Yolo, Solano and Sacramento Counties. Rescues are listed by county and in alphabetical order.

Yolo County:

  • 4RFriends Rescue, provides life-saving emergency medical care to dogs, cats and other small animals who are homeless or about the be euthanized by owners without financial or emotional resources. Educational outreach at local elementary and middle schools is part of this non-profit services. With an all volunteer staff, 100% of donations go towards care on an animal in need.
  • Rotts of Friends Animal Rescue In 1978 Renee Lancaster founded Rotts of Friends Animal Rescue, a 501(C)(3) non-profit to enhance her ability to rescue more animals in need. 
  • YC SPCA The Yolo County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was founded in 1974. Through adoption events, public education and outreach, and active promotion of the benefits of spaying and neutering, Yolo County SPCA strives to provide a better future for the people and pets in our community.

 

Sacramento County: 

  • Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary Founded in 1993, Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary is a no-kill, all volunteer, cage free animal rescue group dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of homeless and abused animals.
  • Sacramento SPCA Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was established in 1894. It is dedicated to ensuring humane treatment of all animals in the Sacramento area. It provides proactive intervention, public education and community outreach as well as a safe and nurturing environment for homeless pets until they can be placed in loving homes.
  • Scooter's Pals Susan Wallace founded Scooter's Pals to provide safety and love to abused or abandoned dogs scheduled to be killed in local and nearby shelters. It also provides refundable pet deposits for dog and cat guardians needing help relocating, and thus allowing them to keep their pets instead of placing them in shelters.


Solano County:

  • Solano County Animal Rescue Foundation SCARF is a non-profit foundation operated by volunteers with the Solano County Animal Shelter. SCARF provides education, appointments and transportation to low cost spay/neuter clinics and placement of homeless dogs, cats and rabbits in permanent loving homes.
