An Interfaith Service of Solidarity with the Muslim Community at the United Methodist Church
In August and September assertions were made that American Muslims were not unAmerican or satanic. A pastor in Florida threatened to burn the Holy Quron on September 11, 2010. Because September 11 coincided with the Muslim celebration of Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr), often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm). Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity," while Fiṭr means "breaking the fast, many Muslims were afraid to openly celebrate this religious day. The Celebration of Abraham put together a program, held at the United Methodist Church of Davis, to show interfaith solidarity with our Muslims brothers and sisters.
