Museum Day at Explorit: A Showcase of Science Programs
Saturday, February 4
Explorit joins the members of the Sacramento Association of Museums in hosting the annual free Museum Day. In addition to being free all day (10:00-5:00 p.m.) Explorit will provide an array of hands-on activities pulled from or representing all the programs we offer, including school outreach programs, birthday parties and special guest visitor programs (the showcase will take place 11:00-4:00 p.m.). Physics Phun!
Saturday, February 18
Explore the physics of light and sound with the UC Davis Physics Club. Cool experiments and demonstrations feature standing waves, a floating metal plate and a high-temp super conductor. Lecture: Robots and Patients

Learn about Rudy the Robodoc, a 5.5-foot tall robot equipped with a camera, TV screen and microphone that allows physicians to personally, but remotely, check in and interact with their patients following surgery. Dr. Lars Ellison of the UC Davis Medical Center will be the guest speaker. This talk is part of Explorit's Cutting Edge of Science Lecture Series. Sponsored by Novozymes. Hands-on exhibition at Explorit Science Center: "Catch a Wave: The Science of Light and Sound," which runs through March 12, 2006. When lightning strikes, you'll often see the bolt before you hear the thunder even though both light and sound travel as waves. Discover the properties of light and sound and conduct some of your own wave experiments. Admission is $3 per person. Tuesday-Friday, 2-4:30 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 11-4:30 p.m. at Explorit Science Center, 3141 5th Street, Davis. Call (530) 756-0191.
