SING IT YOUR WAY AT DAVIS
COMMUNITY IDOL!
All the world might be a stage, but how often do you get a chance
to
stand in the center?
Davis Community Idol is giving you that chance.
Community Idol, sponsored by the Davis Senior High School
Advanced
Treble Choir, is inviting all singers who are more than 18 years
of
age to take center stage at a celebration of singers that takes
place
on October 16 at 7 p.m. at the Richard Brunelle Performance Hall.
We all know that singing well is its own reward, but this event
provides two other rewards: a $150 prize for the first place
singer
and a $50 prize for the singer who captivates the audience so
much
that he or she wins the coveted people's choice award.
Even though October might seem like it is a long way off, the
aspiring
superstar singer who wants to participate in Community Idol has to
get
organized quickly. The deadline for submitting applications is
Sept.
10 and there are specific rules that have to be followed. The
good
news is that there are no auditions. The less than good news: there
is
a $15 application fee.
There are several other conditions that singers should know. All
performances must be contemporary pop and there is no live
accompaniment allowed. Instead, applicants should submit a CD of
contemporary pop background music with their $15 check payable to
"Advanced Treble Choir." Further, all performances can last no
longer
than five minutes.
Only the first 12 paid applicants will be accepted. After that,
Community Idol will set up a waiting list.
To download an application form, please click on the link Community
Idol link under the "News" section to the right side of this page.
If you have any questions about
the event or
how to enter, send an e-mail to atcboard@gmail.com.
So everyone who sings - at any level of experience - should feel free
to enter.
It's fun for you. It's fun for the community and here's the best
part:
any profits go to a great cause: the next generation of singers.
