Who are the Fly Fishers of Davis?

Fly Fishers of Davis is a 100+ member club that is dedicated to teaching
people about fly fishing, swapping yarns about fishing, sponsoring fly
fishing outings, conservation and generally enjoying the fine art of fly
fishing.
 

 

How often does the club meet?

With the following exceptions the club meets at 7:30 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month, usually at Holmes Junior Hi, 1220 Drexel Dr.

  • In February we hold our annual dinner and fund raiser (on a Saturday).
  • In June we hold an annual picnic at a local park.
  • We don't meet at all in August.
  • In December we usually meet earlier in the month to avoid conflicts with the holidays.

 

 

What happens at the meetings?

  • A raffle of fly fishing items.
  • A guest speaker who usually shows slides and talks about some aspect of fly fishing.
  • Occasional silent auctions and equipment swaps.
  • A library of videos that members can sign out for a one month period.
  • A table full of fly fishing club newsletters and magazines for browsing.
  • Updates on where to fish, club activities, outings and trout conservation projects.
  • Lots of BS (Back-Slapping) yarn-spinning, good fellowship (and womanship too).
  • Absolutely NO stretching of the truth is tolerated.....EVER!

 

 

What are the other club activities? 

 

  • Fly fishing outings throughout the year.  (check out the "outings/events" page)
  • An annual picnic in the summer, usually on the last Tuesday in July.
  • An annual fundraising dinner in the winter with a world class guest speaker or home-grown show.
  • Rod building classes conducted by Tom Burton.
  • Fly tying classes in the spring hosted by master tyer Bob Zasoski.
  • Fly casting clinics in the spring with FFF certified master Jeff Putnam.
  • Stream clean-up and BBQ on Putah Creek.

 

 

How do members keep up on club news? 

 

All members get the club's monthly "Fly Fisherman's Line" newsletter and
access to this Internet page. To get a complementary copy of the newsletter,

Do Fly Fishers of Davis ever get skunked on fishing trips?

 

 

Never! (Though, as highly trained proud professionals we never admit it.....)

 

Who makes all the executive decisions for the club?

 

 

The club is run by an all-volunteer and very wise board
of directors</a>, who hold their high-level meetings at the homes of board
members and never get distracted from the business at hand. 

 

How do I join?

 

 

Membership forms are available at the meetings. Look for our membership
chairperson. He'll gladly sign you up and relieve you of any excess financial assets! You can also find a membership form at this site, print it out and either bring it with you to a meeting or snail-mail it to:
