Office Election Ballot information

Elections for the club officers for the end of this quarter and all of next year are happening now! We have several candidates for various positions. Chelsea Johnstone, Sophomore

Position(s) Desired - President (1)

On Red Cross Involvement in past year – “While being vice president in American Red Cross club, I demonstrated leadership in many ways but organizing events and being someone that everyone could trust that I would always get the job done. An improvement made this year in our club was having more students be CPR instructors and putting on the CPR day for our club for the first.  Also, I am very good at communicating with not only the club members but also community members in the city of Davis and Woodland.”

Past Red Cross Activities:

-          UC Davis Red Cross Club (2 year member) – current Vice President

-          Instructor for CPR Training Day

-          Leading and organizing various Red Cross events

-          Volunteering at various Red Cross activities


Soe Maw, Junior

Position(s) Desired, in order of preference - President (1), Vice President (2)

 “I would be an exceptional president because I have the experience, creativity, and passion to help our club reach new heights.  UCD Red Cross club is definitely my favorite involvement on campus. Therefore, continued growth and success of our club is personally important to me. One of my goals as president is to certify club members and other UCD students in First Aid and CPR. I believe the key to accomplish this goal is to make certification more affordable.”

Past Red Cross Activities:

-          High School Red Cross Club

-          UC Davis Red Cross Club (2 year member) – Events Coordinator for past year.

-          Certified in CPR, First Aid

-          American Red Cross CPR Instructor


Sara Jones, Junior

Position(s) Desired - Vice Pres (1), Activites Coordinator (2)

 “The strengths that I have that make me a good officer is that I’m creative and love to think of new ideas to find activities and make our club better.  There are times that instead of studying, I’m thinking about Red Cross.  I also love to listen to other members’ ideas and answer any questions they have. I like to go out of my way to make the members feel comfortable.  I’m also highly organized and am aware of what needs to be done. I’m not afraid to take initiative, and I love to improve so that I can be a more efficient officer.

Past Red Cross Activities:

-          Red Cross volunteer since Freshman in High School

-          Volunteered in South Korea with Red Cross when she lived there

-          UC Davis Red Cross Club (2 year member) – Events Coordinator for past year.

-          American Red Cross CPR Instructor

Ryan Heasley, Junior

Position(s) Desired - Vice Pres (1), Secretary (2)

 “I am confident, creative, willing to listen and eager to learn and achieve greatness. I expect nothing less than the best from myself and as a leader I do the same for those I lead. I strive to be inventive and challenging in any task I attempt and am extremely dedicated to the education of the community we live in and the health and safety of everyone around me.

I really feel that I would make a valuable contribution to the officer position I hold and will be an asset to the team and club. “

-          Red Cross Certified Lifeguard

-          Community College Red Cross Club member – 3 years

-          Potential Blood Source Blood Drive Coordinator

-          American Red Cross CPR Certified

-          Plans to become CPR and First Aid Instructor


Jennifer Lee, Super Senior

Position(s) Desired - Secretary (1), Treasurer (2)

On past leadership experience – “One experience was being an officer for a club in high school.  Although I wasn’t the president, I was instructed to co-lead a meeting because the president was going to be absent.  I had to communicate with my co-leading officer to discuss about who will be doing what.  I wasn’t used to leading meetings, but it gave me a chance to be flexible, to work on my time management and communication skills, and get things done.”

-          UC Davis Red Cross Club (1 year member)

-          Various volunteer activities through UCD Red Cross Club

Donna Tran, Sophomore

Position(s) Desired - Vice Pres (1), Secretary (2)

“I want to bring my experiences and ideas to this club and help it grow strong. I look forward to working with other ARC volunteers and continue the tradition of preserving the principles of ARC. I hope to dedicate myself to UCD’s ARC Club for the next couple of years. I have new ideas for community service events, fundraisers, and publicity for the club.”

-          Red Cross Volunteer since Sophomore in High School

-          High School Red Cross Club President for 3 years

-          Put on a benefit concert during High School – great success!

-          UC Davis Red Cross Club member


Tiffany Pham, Sophomore

Position(s) Desired - Secretary (1)

“I like to be organized and present myself in an orderly fashion. I was part of the American Red Cross for three years in High School. Although my club wasn’t extremely active, I helped other high school clubs with their events.”

Past Red Cross Activities:

-          High School Red Cross Club member for 3 years, secretary and co-president positions

-          Red Cross Bay Area Chapter Representative

-          Helped fundraise for Red Cross vaccinations to be sent to Africa


Sajjaad Samat, Super Senior

Position(s) Desired - Activities Coordinator, Vice Pres (no preference)

 “My ultimate goal would be to help people that are part of rural
environments
particularly little children. I emphasize little children
because; the children we will be helping today will become tomorrow's
leaders. Giving help, inspiration, and time can truly change a person for
the better.”

Past Red Cross Activities: “I do not have any past experience with the Red Cross, but am highly interested in investing my efforts towards a positive organization.”
