Relay For Life

Hello Red Cross Club!

We are participating in a new volunteer/fundraising event called Relay for Life. If you're interested in being a part of our team, please bring $5 to the next general meeting.

The registration is $75 per team and there is a maximum of 15 people on each team. We really want to have two teams this quarter. With two teams, we can get a BIG campsite for everyone and organize a fun on-site fundraiser during the event. We currently need more people to sign up in order to have two teams!

If your friends (who are not club members) want to participate in Relay for Life, that's perfectly fine! Whoever's looking for a team can join us as long as they pay $5 (you can bring their cash contribution to the meeting)! It'll be a lot of fun and a great bonding experience for all the club members!

Here's some quick info about the Relay for Life event:

Date: April 4th and 5th (Saturday & Sunday)
Time: 9:00am - 9:00am (24 hour event)
Location: Toomey Field (at UC Davis)
Team Registration Fee: $5 per member

Relay for Life is the signature fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. This event does not benefit the Red Cross chapter so we will be participating as "Friends of the Red Cross Club". It is a health-related volunteer opportunity and a way to fundraise for a great cause. During the 24 hour event, there will be entertainment ... a touching candlelight ceremony for the deceased... plenty of opportunities to learn about different types of cancer... ceremonies honoring cancer survivors... guest speakers... and plenty of fun with 1000 other UC Davis students!

We will have a huge tent so I encourage everyone to stay overnight! Once I've collected all the money, I will give you your fundraising envelopes and teach you how to sign up online on the Relay for Life website. After that, you can start fundraising!

Thanks everyone! I hope to see you at 6:00pm this Thursday in Olson 6!
