"Shape California’s Future: 2020 Citizens Redistricting"
On Wednesday, May 22, Saving California Communities will host a free public forum on citizens redistricting. The forum takes place from 7:00-8:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room of the Veterans Memorial Center, 203 East 14th Street, Davis. Updated with links to video recording and slide presentations.

Preventing Gun Violence: A Call To Action
Saving California Communities will co-host a public forum with the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and the UC Davis One Campus Health Coalition Initiative (OCHC) on May 27, 2015 on UC Davis campus.
Propositioned! Saving California Communities to host free public forum on Propositions 1 and 2
On October 6, Saving California Communities will host a community forum about Propositions 1 and 2 on the November ballot. State Senator Lois Wolk and Jim Mayer of California Forward will present.
"Enough to Go Around - Sustainable Water Policy for California and Yolo County" a free public forum (3/31/2014)
Can we balance the needs of nature, agriculture and communities? What are the local impacts of the Bay Delta Conservation Plan? What are the implications of a state water bond? Are we employing effective sustainable water practices? Who should pay for them? What incentives can be created for local communities to contribute to a sustainable state plan? These are some of the questions which will be discussed in a free public forum presented by Saving California Communities.
"Breaking the Cycle of Gun Violence - Davis Joins the National Dialogue" (updated with video, next steps. survey and letter to the editor.)
Saving California Communities will host a community forum on breaking the cycle of gun violence on February 19. Internationally renowned gun violence researcher Dr. Garen Wintemute of UC Davis School of Medical School will be joined by Amanda and Nick Wilcox, legislative and policy chairs of the California Chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
"Community Forums on Public Education Revenue Initiatives"
Saving California Communities and the Associated Students, University of California Davis (ASUCD) are sponsoring forums on two proposed initiatives that voters may be asked to approve in November. Each of these ballot initiatives seeks to raise revenue for California's public education system. May 21 and June 4 at 7:30 p.m. on the UC Davis campus.
"Healthy Youth/Healthy Regions Forum"
Co-hosted by Saving California Communities and Yolo County School Boards Association for Monday, May 14, 7 p.m. at Yolo County Office of Education in Woodland. Free and open to the public.

"Forum on State and Federal Redistricting in Yolo County" [with video and updates]
Saving California Communities has been conducting public forums on key policy issues for over two years. The Citizens Redistricting Commission has recently published draft maps of legislative and congressional districts. This local forum will provide information on the process, the implications and ways to provide input on this critical topic.
"Community Dialog to Discuss California Forward's Reform Proposals" (with photo slides)
Saving California Communities and California Forward invited civic leaders, business groups, non-profit advocates, elected officials, and other interested Californians to participate in a community dialog in Yolo County to discuss how we can change our state's direction. California Forward collected input at this conversation and incorporate it into a set of reform proposals.
Joe Mathews and Mark Paul as the featured speakers
The Davis-based government reform group, Saving California Communities (SCC), will host authors, Joe Mathews and Mark Paul as the featured speakers at its upcoming meeting on November 8th at 7:30 p.m. in the AGR room at the Walter A. Buehler Alumni and Visitors Center, on the UC Davis campus. Admission is free, and all members of the public are welcome to attend.
California: Dysfunction, Disinvestment, Disenchantment and the Prospects for Reform
Saving California Communities will host Journalist Peter Schrag. Peter Schrag, a former editorial page editor and columnist of the Sacramento Bee, will be offering his perspective on recent efforts to reform state government on Thursday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall, 415 Second Street in Davis. The event is hosted by Saving California Communities and co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Davis. It is free and open to the public.

"Open Primaries (Proposition 14)" by Eric McGhee on April 28, 2010
SCC will host Eric McGhee, Research Fellow of the Public Policy Institute, to speak about the open primaries (Prop 14 on the June ballot). Members of the public are welcome.
Senator Hancock to Speak in Davis on the California Fair Elections Act
On Wednesday, April 14, Saving California Communities will host a talk by Senator Loni Hancock on Prop. 15. Admission is free. All members of the public are welcome to attend.
"Constitutional Reform in California : Prospects and Perils" will be addressed by Christopher Elmendorf
The Davis-based government reform group, Saving California Communities, together with the League of Women Voters of Davis, will co-host UC Davis professor of law, Christopher Elmendorf, on Friday, February 5 at 1 p.m. at Season's Restaurant, 102 F St. , Davis . All members of the public are welcome to attend.
