Local mosaic artist Mark Rivera has come up with a beautful design for a new sculptural centerpiece for the Rose & Flower garden.  The design was created for a grant proposal to the City of Davis Arts Grant competition.  The competition provides funding for civic art installations as well as visual and performing arts programs.  The mosiac sculpture will feature hand-sculpted tiles depicting native butterflies and hummingbirds visiting garden flowers.  The image to the right is a conceptual drawing of one side of the sculpture.  The previous centerpiece, a red ceramic pot, was destroyed by vandals earlier this month.
