Open House attracts a crowd!
On October 3rd, 2007, we held our first big public event - an open
house during the Farmers Market Picnic in the Park. This
wonderful celebration gave us an opportunity to look back on our
accomplishments in the garden to date and thank all the volunteers,
donors, and partners who contributed to the renovation effort. We
had a great turnout of garden supporters and new faces, and the gardens
were looking more radiant than ever before! Special thanks are
due to the Central Park Gardens steering committee, the Yolo County
Master Gardeners, the Davis Garden Club, Councilman Lamar Heystek, and
all the volunteers who helped make the event a reality. We've
gotten such positive reviews that we are considering turning it into an
annual event!
If you enjoyed the butternut squash soup, a creation of Farmers Market
chef Jaymes Luu using squash from the Vegetable Garden, here's a link to the
recipe.
