Congratulations to our Davis Chinese Association Scholarship Recipients!
The Davis Chinese Association held its third annual Scholarship Reception at International House on May 21, 2011. We awarded $4000 in scholarships to 6 remarkable graduating seniors from Davis Senior High School. The recipients submitted their application including an essay entitled "What it means to be a Chinese American".
This year's recipients are: Amanda Chen - Davis Chinese Association Scholarship, Xunyi (Peter) Wang - DCA Leslie and Gregory Chin Memorial Scholarship, Deanna Cheng - DCA Kwang Ching Liu Memorial Scholarship, Yangyu (Annie) Yang - DCA Shang Fa Yang Memorial Scholarship, Christine Chu - DCA Wen-Tze Hwang Memorial Scholarship, and James Liu - DCA Tjwan Bie Tan Memorial Scholarship.
The recipients celebrated their achievements with their families, scholarship donors, DCA members and friends. The recipients were also recognized at Davis Senior High School's Senior Awards Night on May 31.
The Scholarship Reception was generously sponsored again by Dr. Alan C. Tan, D.M.D. of Tan Orthodontics in Woodland, who as a Chinese American wanted to help support the Davis Chinese Association’s involvement in promoting higher education.
