Emerson Jr. High PTA
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.--R.W. Emerson
Important Announcement:
MEASURE C - What's at Stake at Emerson?
Measures Q and W will sunset in 2012 resulting in a $6.5 million or approximately 10 percent loss to the school district’s overall budget. In February, all Davis residents will be asked to vote on Measure C, which will replace the funds from Q and W. In order for our children to continue to receive their current quality of education, Measure C must pass. If the parcel taxes are not renewed through passing Measure C, every secondary school will suffer program cuts.
- All secondary school libraries will close.
- Availability at the secondary level of a sufficient number of classes in core subjects and key classes, such as science, math, English, social sciences, AP courses and foreign languages, will be affected
- Availability of athletics and co-curricular programs, including drama, debate and journalism, in addition to the athletic director position and stipends for every district-paid coach will be affected
- Availability of school counselors and school nurses will be reduced.
The campaign polling data tells us that the votes are there to pass Measure C, we just must turn them out. The best way to do that is through walking and phoning. We have two walking weekends and a number of phone banking nights. You can come with a group or as an individual.
A few hours of your time can save invaluable education programs for our children.

Davis PARENTS DO
The Emerson PTA needs you for 2012!
Emerson PTA does a lot of great things for the school, but we need volunteers to fill positions to keep it going. We have positions of varying commitment levels.
District Dollars
Superintendent Parent Advisory Committee (SPAC) -
Once a month PTA presidents, site council representatives and educational foundations meet with the superintendent to receive information from him and his staff. SPAC is a great way to hear directly from the top about what the district is doing, as well as a place for school representatives to ask questions on any issues of concern.
Band and Orchestra
To sign up for Band Boosters listserve, click on Parent List Serves and then Ejhmusic. The orchestra listserve is also under Parent List Serves but under Jrhiorchestra.
