Emerson Jr. High PTA Back To School Packet

The PTA back-to-school packet includes information on how to become a member, sign up on the listserv, order an Emerson sweatshirt, etc.  Please turn in completed PTA forms to the school office. 

The Emerson PTA needs you for 2010-11!

Emerson PTA does a lot of great things for the school, but we need volunteers to fill positions to keep it going.  We have positions of varying commitment levels.  Please conisder one of the following open positions:

Executive Board:

Secretary - Filled 

Auditor - prepares an audit twice a year (September and January). 

Committee Chairs:

Website Manager - updates the Emerson PTA website and calendar.  Time commitment:  the majority of the work is at the beginning of the school year, and then a few upates to the calendar each week and web updates as PTA members give you information to post.  Both the website and calendar are easy to update.  The Davis Community Network (DCN) is available to help with any problems and provides free web classes and handouts.  Contact Susan Osfeld for more details.

Parent Education - works with other schools in scheduling parent education sessions during the school year.  Contact Sarah Rock, PTA President, at rockinc@dcn.org for more details.  Sarah has past experience working with other schools and scheduling.

Directory - formats, prints and distributes the directory.  Time commitment:  Fall only.  Sarah Rock, PTA President, and other parents helped redesign the directory last year.  Please contact Sarah at rockinc@dcn.org and she will give you more details about this position. 

Logo Wear - Filled

Hospitality - coordinates 4-5 simple breakfast/lunch events (November, January, March and May) with help from a list of volunteers.  The first event is scheduled for November.  Toni Terhaar coordinated events for the first time last year and thinks it's the perfect PTA position for a new parent.  You can contact Toni at terhaarkanz@gmail.com for more details.  Toni is our new treasurer this year.

Superintendent Parent Advisory Committee (SPAC) - March Minutes 

Once a month PTA presidents, site council representatives and educational foundations meet with the superintendent to receive information from him and his staff.  SPAC is a great way to hear directly from the top about what the district is doing, as well as a place for school representatives to ask questions on any issues of concern.

Band and Orchestra

To sign up for Band Boosters listserve, click on Parent List Serves and then Ejhmusic.  The orchestra listserve is also under Parent List Serves but under Jrhiorchestra.
