Community Tennis Court Updates!

The DTC would like to remind members that the “Community Courts” are owned by the DJUSD and it is through a shared use agreement with the City of Davis and the DJUSD that the public and the DTC can use these courts.  The DTC works cooperatively with DJUSD and the City to ensure that the courts are used properly, cleaned, and maintained.  It is critical that our membership & public players respect the boundaries of the High School by ONLY entering the courts on the EASTERN side of the complex along the bike path.  Use of the courts by Davis High PE classes or DHS tennis teams take precedence over any public or league use.

Please help us maintain this unique and beneficial relationship with DJUSD by prioritizing student safety and facility stewardship.

 
     The ongoing construction on a new STEM building at the High School (14th St.)  replaced courts #1-3. “Complex C” courts #4-7 are inside the construction zone but are slated to be refurbished once the DJUSD project is completed. Renumbering of the courts is pending. (Diagram of DSHS tennis complexes)
 
     Thanks to our special agreement with the DJUSD, the DTC can also “reserve courts” at these complexes for the use of SATA/USTA league play, or DTC special events.  If you are planning on a 2024 league team, please contact Interclub@davistennisclub.org to arrange for your court permits/reservations (reservations must be made at least 3 weeks in advance).

TENNIS ADVOCACY

• November 2022 update on DHS/Tennis Court project: Davis High School STEM Project and Tennis Courts - update Nov 2022
• The DTC advocated and partnered with the City for the newly-renovated tennis courts at Slide Hill, North Covell, Chestnut, Redwood and West Manor Parks. Here's a list of available tennis courts in Davis.
• The DTC board pushed for inclusion of funds in the City’s 2022-23 budget to reconstruct the tennis courts at Walnut and Pioneer Parks. 

DAVIS HIGH\COMMUNITY COURTS

• DTC ensures courts are cleaned and washed on a regular basis
• Provide squeegees to dry courts during the rainy season
• Replace nets, center straps, and regularly adjust nets to proper height 
• Re-attach or replace windscreens (Walnut Park Courts too)
• Successfully advocated for the five newer courts (#8-12) and continues to advocate for replacing the older cracked courts. 

LEAGUE PLAY OPPORTUNITIES

• The DTC insures and reserves courts allowing members to play in SATA and USTA league matches. 

PROFESSIONAL TENNIS LESSONS AND SUMMER YOUTH CAMPS

• Offered through our local professional instructors.

RECIPROCAL RELATIONSHIP WITH WOODLAND TENNIS CLUB 

• The DTC invites our neighboring club’s members to participate in DTC events and Woodland does the same.
