Sensory Garden
Visitors stimulate their senses of sight, smell, touch, and taste in the Sensory Garden as they enjoy the plantings of aromatic herbs, tasty fruits, and soft-textured foliage. Raised beds edged with stone provide ample seating space for fragrant garden picnics, especially on Davis Farmers Market days.
Gardeners interested in edible landscaping will find inspiration here. Dwarf fruit trees are pruned to demonstrate how to maintain a compact “fruit shrub” form that works well in a small home garden. Strawberries, rhubarb, artichokes, asparagus, and a variety of culinary herbs have all been incorporated into the attractive plantings.
A playful stone and bronze sculpture by artist Sandra Shannonhouse dominates the center of the garden.
