Hike (1A).   Quarry Trail (Canyon Keeper’s Hike)

Join us for a pleasant out and back hike along the Middle Fork American River below Auburn.  Hike will be about 3.5 to 4 miles on wide trail that is mostly level until we climb the hill up to the rock amphitheater and climbing area. We’ll have lunch before starting back.  

We’ll discuss origins of Quarry Trail dating to the Gold Rush era as well as Hawver Cave/ Hawver Mine and the Mountain Quarry Railroad along the way and as we stop at the blocked off entrance to the cave/mine.  Meet at 10:00 a.m. at Quarry Parking Lot off Hwy. 49.  Bring pass or $ for state parking fee. You can also park on Hwy. 49 on the El Dorado side of river and walk down to Quarry parking lot.  If you wish to try to arrange car pool with others, meet at 9:30 a.m. at Burger King on Lincoln Way in Auburn at Foresthill Exit off I-80.  Bring water, lunch, essentials.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader: Sheila Toner (H) 530-886-0673.

Hike (2B). Hidden Falls Regional Park

This 6 to 8-mile hike will loop around various trails on the south side of the park, exploring areas away from the falls. Bring lunch, water and essentials. No dogs. Heavy rain cancels.

Hike (1A).  East Bay Ridge Top 

Stroll along the ridge top above Berkeley and enjoy views from Mt. Diablo to the Golden Gate.  We’ll follow Nimitz Way from Inspiration Point to a lovely lunch spot with views over the SF Bay, with side trips to Wildcat Peak and the Rotary Peace Grove if conditions permit.  The hike is about 6 miles with less than 500 ft. elevation loss/gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.

Hike (1A).  Cronan Ranch

We’ll hike a pretty 4 to 5-mile loop from Hwy. 49 to the South Fork American River and back.  Nice varied views of the South Fork.  Plan on a long lunch break at the river.  Bring lunch, water and essentials.

Hike (2A). Zim Zim Falls, North Shore of Lake Berryessa (Yolano Group)

Explore a corner of Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument by hiking to beautiful Zim Zim Falls. The hike is a moderate 7 mile out and back amble up pretty Zim Zim canyon to the 100 ft+ cascade. Be prepared to get your feet wet with 8 creek crossings on the way to the falls (and the same 8 on the return).  Elevation gain is about 400 ft. Bring water and lunch. Rain cancels.
