Hike (1A) Quarry Trail to Murderer’s Bar   (Canyon Keepers Hike)

Join us for a pleasant hike along the Middle Fork of the American River below Auburn.  The hike is about 6 miles with a short climb up into the abandoned quarry on the way back.  Bring lunch, water, essentials, and $ for state parking fee.  Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:30 a.m. or Quarry parking lot at 9:45 a.m.   No dogs.   Rain cancels.  Leader: Sheila Toner.  530-886-0673.

Hike (2A).  East Bay Ridge Top

Stroll along the ridgetop above Berkeley and enjoy views from Mt. Diablo to the Golden Gate.  We’ll follow Nimitz Way from Inspiration Point to an abandoned Nike Missile site, with side trips to Wildcat Peak and the Rotary Peace Grove if conditions permit.  The hike is about 7 miles with less than 500’ elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Meet at 8:30 am at the Davis Park and Ride behind Ikedas Fruit Stand off I-80 at Mace Blvd in Davis.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader:  Jim Cramer, 530-756-3973 or cramerjc@gmail.com.

Hike (2A). Jenkinson Lake

This out-and-back route along Jenkinson Lake near Pollock Pines is a pleasant hike along the shoreline; total distance is about 6.5 miles. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the McDonalds on Broadway in Placerville (Broadway exit off Hwy 50). No dogs. Rain cancels. Leader: Chris Fox, fox_chris@att.net or 916-918-9510.

Hike (1A) Monroe Ridge and Monument Trail

 Hike a loop up to the Marshall Monument and then back down to the American River and 1848 gold discovery site.  Plan on spending some time, after the hike enjoying lunch near the river, exploring the museum and shops on your own, if they are open.  Bring state parking pass or $ for state parking fee, as well as lunch, water, and essentials.  Meet at Burger King in Auburn at 9:30 am or in front of Gold Discovery State Park Museum in Coloma at 10 am.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader:  Sheila Toner 530-886-0673.

Hike (2B). Pierce Falls, Berryessa Snow Mt. National Monument (Yolano Group)

We’ll wind up through Pierce Canyon on gravel Rd. 53.  The canyon has breathtaking steep cliffs and views of Capay Valley, a nice creek, and beautiful oaks.  Along the way we'll get to a cross-canyon view of the falls.  At road’s end we eat lunch and then return down Rd. 53.  Round trip is about 8 miles with about 1400’ elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Contact leader about meeting time and place.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader:  Jim Cramer, 530-756-3973 or cramerjc@gmail.com.
