Thursday, October 4 

Hike (1A). Sagehen Creek

This is a pleasant, easy hike north of Truckee. We’ll walk along Sagehen Creek, going from Highway 89 to Stampede Reservoir, about 5 miles round-trip. This time of year, the aspens should be colorful, and we may see some Kokanee salmon near the reservoir. Bring lunch, water and rain gear in case of showers. Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 near Auburn at 9:00 a.m.

Tuesday, October 9

Hike (2B).  Maud Lake 

From near Wrights Lake off Hwy 50 we follow the Rockbound Pass Trail up, down, and around to shallow but picturesque Maud Lake. The Rockbound Pass cirque rises spectacularly over our lunch and swim site there.  We then retrace our route.  The hike is approximately 8.5 miles with 1100 ft cumulative elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. No dogs.  Rain cancels. Hike limited to 10.Contact leader for meeting information and reservation.

Wednesday, October 10 

Hike (1A) Lake Clementine Trail (Canyon Keepers Hike)     

Walk along a mostly level trail paralleling North Fork of American River from the Confluence to Lake Clementine Dam, approx. 5 miles.  We will eat lunch as we watch the water spill over the dam.  Bring lunch, water, and $ for parking or state parking pass.  Meet at 9:00 am at the Confluence Area, off Hwy 49 in Auburn, by shade shelter just before OLD (low) Foresthill Bridge.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader: Sheila Toner 530- 886-0673.

 

Wednesday, October 17

Hike (1A). Little Bald Mt. Loop

Hike starts at Robinson Flat campgrounds.  We’ll hike up to the ridge via a series of switchbacks (approx. 600 ft elevation gain) and have lunch at the top while enjoying the awesome 360-degree views of the Sierra Nevada.  Trail down provides a nice hike through the woods.  Hike is approx. 4 miles round trip.  Have lunch, plenty of water and rain gear in case of afternoon showers.  Rain cancels. No dogs.  Meet in Auburn at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:00 am.

Saturday, October 20

Hike (2B).  Dardanelles Lake (Yolano Group)

From south of Lake Tahoe, we climb past Big Meadow, over a ridge, and wander down to beautiful Dardanelles Lake and good swimming. We then retrace our route back to cars. The hike is approximately 7 miles with 1200 ft cumulative elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Meet at 9;00 a.m. at the McDonalds on Broadway in Placerville (Broadway exit off Hwy 50 past signals).  No dogs. Rain cancels.

Hike (2A). Pioneer Trail from Lang’s Crossing 

On this hike we’ll head east from Lang’s Crossing to have lunch at Lake Spaulding. The big-leaf maples make this a colorful autumn walk. About 6 miles with a total 880 ft elevation gain. Bring lunch, water and essentials. No dogs. Heavy rain cancels. Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 in Auburn at 9:00 a.m.
