Laurie raised a parent concern regarding traffic in the school’s parking lot.  She has asked the city to review the situation.

Laurie also presented a brief counselor’s report as the counselors are conducting the Sophomore Parent Orientation tonight. Counselors are busy working on planners for next year. The Class of 2010 list server goes live tomorrow.

Approval of November Minutes

Minutes from the January meeting were reviewed and approved.

Former Student Report

The class of 2006 class gift to the school was a mural for the new school gym.  Sarah Taheri brought some workups of the proposed sports mural.  Students are working with local artist Temo Moreno.  The project, which will consist of multiple panels, is set to begin in April and will be installed on the South wall of the gym when complete.

Treasurer and Membership Report - Shelley McFarland

See attached Income and Expenditures report. On Monday the books will be going to the auditor for review.

Principal Report - Mike Cawley

Mike reported that CSU’s early assessment program for juniors is coming up.  It is two separate parts; an essay test, and a multiple choice test (which is given in the STAR test).  If students pass they will be exempt from CSU’s placement test and they won’t be subject to remediation.  If they don’t do well, the information will inform students as to what classes they might want to take senior year.

Also, Jostens will be on site on 2/12.

Student Report

Rile S. presented reports for the sophomore and junior classes.  The sophomore class is still looking for fundraising ideas.  The junior class prom went well and had a very good profit.  The Bogus ball committee formed this week.

ASB elections will be held 3/14/07, with packets going out 2/21 and campaigning beginning 2/28.

Student government apologizes to the PTA for the staff food mix-up before school today.

Announcements

Two school board members will attend next month’s meeting to get PTA member input on the upcoming parcel tax renewal.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Stacey Black
