Monday, June 1: Hike (1B). Mt. Judah and Donner Peak
Starting out along the Pacific Crest Trail south from Donner Pass, we’ll hike the Mt Judah Loop. We’ll make a stop at historic Roller Pass on the way, and a short side-trip to Donner Peak after the summit. About 6 miles with a total 1,700' elevation gain. Bring lunch, water and essentials. Tuesday, June 2: Hike (2A). Fordyce Creek from Fuller Lake
Water is released from Fuller Lake down to Lake Spaulding during the day to generate prime time electricity as part of a 7-lake hydroelectric system. We will follow the funky water canal and pipe down to Spaulding Lake, walk around Spaulding Lake and then up Fordyce Creek to a beautiful cascade/waterfall. After lunch we retrace our route. The hike is about 8 miles with 600+’ elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Wednesday, June 10 : Hike (1A). Beacon Meadow – Forest Service Ridge
Our approx 3.5 – 4-mile high country loop starts by crossing the small but pretty Beacon Meadow near Serene Lakes. Then we’ll hike up to Forest Service Ridge (approx 400 ft elevation gain) that runs along the south side of Van Norden Lake and affords expansive views of the local area and surrounding peaks. On the way back down, the trail gently wends its way through a shady forest. Have lunch, water, and essentials. No dogs. Rain cancels. Tuesday, June 16: Hike (2B). Round Lake from Big Meadow
From south of Lake Tahoe we climb past Big Meadow, over a low ridge, down and then up to beautiful Round Lake. Along the way we marvel at wildflowers and geological spectacles. We then retrace our route back to cars. The hike is about 6.5+ miles with 1200’ cumulative elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. June 17, Wednesday: Hike (1A). Fuller Lake to Lang’s Crossing
We’ll hike from Fuller Lake to Lang’s Crossing off Bowman Road. This short, approx 4 miles, route drops from Fuller Lake about 900 ft until we arrive at the Yuba River, where we can cool off our feet and enjoy the river views. Bring lunch, water, & essentials. Tuesday, June 30: Hike (2B). Lyons Creek
Near Wrights Lake off Hwy 50 we will stroll up Lyons Creek to Lyons Lake for a pleasant swim and then return. En route we pass beautiful cascades and wildflowers (hopefully, at least in normal snow years). The hike is about 10 miles with approximately 1700’ elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and essentials.
