Saturday, February 9 HIKE CANCELED AT LEADER'S REQUEST DUE TO WEATHER
Hike (2B). Jack London State Park (Yolano Group)
From the Visitor Center and London Cottage we pass by Pig Palace, London Lake, and Deer Camp en route to the top of Sonoma Ridge and the Park Summit. Expect beautiful oak-savannah terrain and views over Glen Ellen and Sonoma Valley. The hike is about 8 miles with about 1500’ elevation gain (somewhat steep in places). Hike (1A) Riverview & Western States Trail (WST) Loop (Canyon Keepers Hike)
This approx. 5-mile loop combines some interesting river views and local history. We'll start by hiking down to Riverview Trail, which mainly follows the route of the 20thcentury Mt Quarries RR. After a short climb up to the WST trail we'll follow it back to our starting point. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. No dogs. Rain cancels. Hike (1A). Avery Pond, Mormon Ravine
We’ll hike from Rattlesnake Bar trailhead to historic Avery Pond and a little past Mormon Ravine on a trail paralleling American River. We’ll stop to see if we can spot the turtles in the pond and then continue upstream on fairly level trail along river, returning to Avery pond for lunch. This hike is about 4 to 5 miles with minimal elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, essential, and $ for state parking fee. No dogs. Rain cancels. Hike (2B). Black Diamond Mine East Loop
From south of Antioch we will climb to and traverse along ridge tops through beautiful oak-savannah terrain and return through Somersville valley and abandoned coal mining sites.
