Hike (1B). Mount Judah
Starting out along the Pacific Crest Trail south from Donner Pass, we’ll hike the Mt Judah Loop. We’ll make a stop at historic Roller Pass on the way, and a short optional side-trip to Donner Peak after the summit. Up to 6 miles with a total 1,700 ft elevation gain. We will see spectacular views and late season wildflowers.
Bring lunch, water and essentials. No dogs. Rain cancels.
Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 near Auburn at 9:00 a.m.

Hike (1A). Rowton Peak Loop
This is an approx. 5 miles loop trail with about 800 ft elevation gain. We’ll start off by hiking up to Rowton Peak with its expansive view of the Royal George Area. There are a few fairly steep sections as we make our way up to Rowton Peak. As we continue along Razorback Ridge, with one up and down section, we will enjoy a series of changing vista and forest views as well as some interesting lava formations. We’ll leave the ridge and descend via a series of switchbacks and then make our way back on nicely forested trails.

Hike (1A). Salmon and Loch Leven Lakes (Yolano Group)
Enjoy the “easy” route to lovely Loch Leven Lakes. From a high-elevation trailhead off I-80 we hike a gentle trail past Salmon Lake to Loch Leven Lakes, and after lunch retrace our steps. Salmon Lake has many surprises but no salmon. The round trip is under 6 miles with elevation gain of less than 500’.

Hike
(2B), Emigrant Lake, Carson Pass
From below Carson Pass we will walk to the far end of Caples Lake and then ascend a gentle canyon to beautiful Emigrant Lake and refreshing swimming. We then retrace our route back to cars. The hike is approximately 8 miles with 1000’ cumulative elevation gain.

Hike (1A). Little Bald Mt Fire Lookout
Hike starts at Robinson Flat. We’ll hike up to the ridge and on to the fire station lookout. This is an out and back hike of approx. 4 miles with an elevation loss/gain of approx. 500 ft. We’ll have lunch at the top while enjoying the awesome 360-degree views of the Sierra Nevada. May have a chance to talk to the fire lookout and learn how they locate and call in fires.
Bring lunch, plenty of water and rain gear in case of afternoon showers. No dogs. Rain cancels.
