Wednesday, March 6

Hike (1A). Quarry Trail to Murder’s Bar (Canyon Keepers Hike)

 

Join us for a pleasant hike along the Middle Fork of the American River below Auburn.  The hike is about 5-6 miles with a short climb up into the abandoned quarry on the way back.  Bring lunch, water, essentials.  Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill exit off I-80 at 9:30 a.m. or Quarry parking lot (fee) at 9:45 a.m.   Quarry parking lot may still be closed due to construction; if so park on Hwy 49 and walk down to lot.  Trail is still open while work is underway.  No dogs.   Rain cancels.  Leader: Sheila Toner.  530-886-0673. 

 

 

Tuesday, March 12

Hike (2B).  Diablo Falls, Mt. Diablo 

 

Explore canyons and cliffs on the east face of Mt. Diablo.  We climb up Back Canyon, wind around to the Falls Trail, work our way up to and across the falls and then return down Donner Canyon.  Round trip is about 7.5 miles with 1600 ft. elevation gain. Bring lunch, water and essentials. Contact leader for meeting time and place.  No dogs. Rain cancels.  Leader:  Jim Cramer, 530-756-3973 or cramerjc@gmail.com


 

Wednesday, March 13

Hike (2A). Jenkinson lake 

 

The hike along Jenkinson Lake near Pollock Pines is a pleasant hike along the shoreline; total distance is about 6.5 miles. Bring lunch, water and essentials. Meet at 9:30 a.m. At the McDonalds on Broadway in Placerville (Broadway exit off hwy. 50 past signals). No dogs. Rain cancels. Alternate hike in Placerville if snow present on trail. Hike (1A). Cronan Ranch 

 

We’ll hike a pretty 4-5-mile loop from Hwy. 49 to the south fork American River and back.  Nice varied views of the south fork.   Plan on a long lunch break by the river.  Bring lunch, water and essentials.  Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill exit off i-80 near Auburn at 9:30 a.m. or at Cronan parking area off Pedro Hill Rd at 10:00 a.m.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader: Sheila Toner 530-886-0673

 

 

Saturday, March 23

Hike (2B).  Valley Vista Trail (Yolano Group)

 

From near Rumsey in the Capay Valley we will climb the canyon wall to a beautiful vista point, enjoying views north up Cache Creek Canyon and south over Capay Valley.  The loop trail is newly constructed by Tuleyome volunteers and mostly is moderately graded but steep in a few places.  The difficult rock section has now been bypassed.  The loop is about 6 miles with about 1200 ft. elevation gain. Bring lunch, water and essentials. Hike (2A). Peninsula Trails at Folsom Lake 

 

This 6.5-mile hike makes a loop around the peninsula at the northeast end of Folsom Lake. We should see early wildflowers and have great views of the lake. Parts of the trails are often muddy this time of year, so have extra shoes to change into after the hike. Bring lunch, water and essentials. State Park parking fee or pass may be required. No dogs.
