Hike (1A) Sterling Point
We’ll hike down to the old miners' ditch along Folsom Lake and enjoy the views. This is an out and back hike of approx. 4-5 miles. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Meet at 9:30 am at Burger King on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 or the Sterling Point staging area off Lomida Street in Loomis at 10 am. No dogs. Rain cancels. Hike (1A) Quarry Trail to Murder’s Bar (Canyon Keeper’s Hike)
Join us for a pleasant hike along the Middle Fork of the American River below Auburn. The hike is about 6 miles with a short climb up into the abandoned quarry on the way back. We’ll talk about the history of the Mt Quarries RR and mine along the way. Bring lunch, water, essentials, and $ for state parking fee. Hike (1A) Frog Pond, Cache Creek region (Yolano Group)
This is a pleasant hike in the Cache Creek region that features widely varying ecosystems, ranging from riparian to chaparral to oak-grasslands. We’ll enjoy lunch beside an old ranch pond that often resounds with the croaks of large frogs. The hike is a 5+ mile loop with about 600’ elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Hike (IA) Shingle Falls
Stroll through oak-grassland terrain in the remote Spenceville Wildlife Area east of Wheatland and bordering Beale Air Force Base. Suddenly, unexpectedly, we come upon spectacular Shingle Falls. Round trip is about 5 miles with about 500 foot elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Contact the leader for details on where and when to meet. No dogs. Rain cancels. Hike (1B) Hidden Falls Regional Park
This 5 to 6 mile hike will circle the original part of the park, visiting Seven Pools, and back to the falls for lunch before heading back uphill to our cars. Bring lunch, water and essentials. No dogs. Heavy rain cancels. Day Hike (1A) plus museum and zoo visit, Folsom
Visit the new Museum of Wonder and Delight showing the magical works of UC Davis professor emeritus Dolph Gotelli followed by lunch at Q’bolé Mexican Restaurant. Then walk from the restaurant to the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary with a diversion to cross the historic Rainbow Bridge. After our time in the zoo we will return to our cars. Walk is 2-3 miles with some standing at the museum and the zoo. Rain cancels the walk and zoo but not the museum and lunch. No pets. Limited to 15 participants.
