Hike (2A) Scotts Lake
From south of Lake Tahoe we climb past Big Meadow, up a gentle canyon, and over a low ridge to Scotts Lake. The lake itself is mundane, but the trek to it is special. With luck we’ll enjoy the spectacular fall coloring of the many aspen groves as well as pretty vistas. We then retrace our route back to cars. The hike is approximately 7 miles with 700’ cumulative elevation gain. Bring lunch, water and essentials. Meet at 9:00 am at the McDonalds on Broadway in Placerville (Broadway exit off Hwy. 50 past signals). No dogs. Rain cancels.

Meet at 9:00 am at the Confluence Area, off Hwy. 49 in Auburn, by shade shelter just before OLD (low) Foresthill Bridge. No dogs. Rain cancels.

Hike (1A) Sagehen Creek
This is a pleasant, easy hike north of Truckee. We’ll walk along Sagehen Creek, going from Highway 89 to Stampede Reservoir, about 5-6 miles round-trip. This time of year, the aspens should be colorful, and we may see some Kokanee salmon near the reservoir. Bring lunch, water and rain gear in case of showers. Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 near Auburn at 9:00 am.
