Wednesday, August 2

Hike (1A); Castle Pass Ridge

 We’ll hike up to castle pass ridge via the PCT and lunch with 360-degree views of the Sierras.  Hike is about 4.5 miles, with a few small stream crossings.   Beautiful scenery along the way.  Have lunch, water, essentials and jacket for breeze or late showers.   Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Rain cancels. No dogs. Meet in Auburn at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:00 am. Leader: Sheila Toner, 530-886-0673.

 

Wednesday, August 9

Hike (1A), Flora Lake

This short, easy hike starts out on a portion of the PCT in the Donner Summit area then goes up to Flora Lake.  It has some great views and is a favorite summer hike.  Plan on at least an hour for lunch at Flora Lake.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Rain cancels. No dogs. Meet in Auburn at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:00 am. Leader: Sheila Toner, 530-886-0673.

 

Saturday, August 12

Hike (2A).  Upper Rock Lake (Yolano Group)

From Loney Meadow we loop around Bowman Mountain to lovely Upper Rock Lake.  After lunch we return via Culbertson Lake, making a scenic loop of about 7 miles with about 900’ cumulative elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Meet at 9am at the Auburn Burger King (Foresthill exit off I-80, left on Lincoln Way one block).  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader: Jim Cramer, (530) 756-3973 or cramerjc@gmail.com.

 

Tuesday, August 22

Hike (2B).  Round Lake from Big Meadow

From south of Lake Tahoe we climb past Big Meadow, over a low ridge, down and then up to beautiful Round Lake.  Along the way we marvel at wildflowers and geological spectacles.  We then retrace our route back to cars.  The hike is about 6.5+ miles with 1200’ cumulative elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Meet at 9am at the McDonalds in Placerville (take Broadway exit from Hwy 50).  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader: Jim Cramer, (530) 756-3973 or cramerjc@gmail.com.
