Hike (1A). Long Lake
This is a short hike of approx. 3-4 miles to Long Lake, with nice views of Devils Peak in the background. We’ll do some scrambling off trail up the granite to get a view into the Royal Gorge before returning to Long Lake to cool our feet with Devils Peak in the background. The hike will be fairly level – except for the off trail scrambling up/down from the ridge viewpoint (approx. 200 ft. elevation gain/loss). The last approx. 2 miles to the trailhead near Devils Peak Warming hut is via a gravel road. Have lunch, water, and essentials. No dogs. Rain cancels. Meet in Auburn at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:00 a.m.

Hike (2A). Scotts Lake
From south of Lake Tahoe we climb past Big Meadow, up a gentle canyon, and over a low ridge to Scotts Lake. The lake itself is mundane, but the trek to it is special. With luck we’ll enjoy the spectacular fall coloring of the many aspen groves as well as pretty vistas. We then retrace our route back to cars. The hike is approximately 7 miles with 700’ cumulative elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Meet at 9 a.m. at the McDonalds on Broadway in Placerville (Broadway exit off Hwy 50 past signals). No dogs. Rain cancels.

Bring lunch, water and essentials. No dogs. Heavy rain cancels. Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 in Auburn at 9:00 a.m.

Hike (2B). Meiss Lake (Yolano Group)
From Carson Pass on Hwy. 88 we will climb over a ridge and drop down to Meiss Lake. This lake is shallow and not great for swimming, but beautiful and an excellent site for lunch. The trip highlight is the hike to the lake, not the lake itself. We then retrace the route back to cars. The hike is approximately 8 miles with 1500’ cumulative elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. Meet at 9 a.m. at the McDonalds on Broadway in Placerville (Broadway exit off Hwy. 50 past signals). No dogs. Rain cancels.

Hike (1A). Bridge View – Stagecoach – Mossy Rock Loop
(Canyon Keepers)
This short approx. 3-mile loop with an elevation change of +/- 600 ft. offers a variety of scenery, views and different types of trails. This pleasant, not too strenuous, outing offers nice views of the entire Confluence Area and a unique perspective on the Foresthill Bridge. Bring lunch, water, and essentials. No dogs. Rain cancels. Meet in Auburn at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:00 a.m. or at gate 112 just before Foresthill Bridge.
