Hike (2B). Hidden Falls Regional Park

This 8-mile loop will take us on both sides of Coon Creek on mostly easy wide trails, and back to the falls before heading back uphill to our cars. Bring lunch, water and essentials. No dogs. Heavy rain cancels. Meet at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 near Auburn at 9:00 a.m. or at Hidden Falls Park at 9:30 a.m. Leader: Chris Fox, fox_chris@att.net or 916-918-9510.

 

Tuesday, December 12

Hike (1A).  Rockville Hills Regional Park, Fairfield 

Enjoy a leisurely walk through a geological wonderland near Fairfield.  We’ll marvel at diverse habitats and impressive rock formations while exploring Unknown Trail, May-December Trail, and Lower Tilley Loop.  The hike is about 6 miles with less than 700’ cumulative elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, $3 admission, and other essentials.  Meet at 8:30 am at the Davis Park and Ride behind Ikedas Fruit Stand off I-80 at Mace Blvd in Davis.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader:  Jim Cramer, 530-756-3973 or cramerjc@gmail.com

 

Wednesday, December 13

Hike. (1A). Olmstead Loop – North Side (Canyon Keepers Hike)

 

We'll make a 4 - 5 mile loop off of the northern half of the main Olmstead Loop trail. Trail may be muddy if recent rain.  Exact loop will be chosen based on trail conditions.  This is always a nice area for a hike through rolling oak woodland and meadows.  Meet at 9:30 am at Burger King on Lincoln Way in Auburn at Foresthill Exit off I-80, or at trailhead behind the fire station in Cool at 10 am.  Bring water, snack or lunch, essentials and parking pass or $ for state parking fee.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader: Sheila Toner 530-886-0673.

Wednesday, December 20

Hike (1A). Auburn State Recreation Area - Maidu Area

We’ll make an easy loop – mainly on roads and gravel paths - below Maidu.  We’ll see remnants of work done in preparation for the long delayed Auburn Dam.  Bring water, and essentials.  Consider joining us for a late pre-holiday lunch in Auburn after the hike.  Meet in Auburn at Burger King, on Lincoln Way at Foresthill Exit off I-80 at 9:30 am or at Maidu gate and entrance booth/park gate at 9:40 am   Fee to park in ASRA lot by entrance booth but some free parking available along the street.  No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader:  Sheila Toner 530-886-0673

 

Saturday, December 30

Hike (2B).  Briones Ridge (Yolano Group)

Come explore the canyons and ridges on the south side of Briones Regional Park between Orinda and Martinez.  We’ll have spectacular views of Mt. Diablo and East Bay reservoirs.  The hike is a 7+ mile loop with about 1100’ elevation gain.  Bring lunch, water, and essentials.  Meet at 8:30 am at the Davis Park and Ride behind Ikedas Fruit Stand off I-80 at Mace Blvd. in Davis.   No dogs.  Rain cancels.  Leader:  Jim Cramer, 530-756-3973 or cramerjc@gmail.com
